The National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio, is the largest and oldest museum of its type in the world. It features over 14 acres under roof. The aircraft spans from early flight to WWI, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, and to present day aircraft. The early year’s gallery features many aircraft from many nations from Wright Brothers to WWII. Martin Aircraft recently built a replica of the Martin B2 Bomber that Billy Mitchell used to show the US military how an aircraft could sink a battleship. The aircraft was built using the original drawings, materials, and tooling. It is truly one of a kind. All of the original B2’s were destroyed.
The Air Power Gallery feature aircraft from WWII. There are aircraft from US, Britain, and Germany. The museum is the only military museum in the world that has all of the allied four night fighters on display. There is a Beaufighter on display along with a Japanese Zero that is marked as one of the aircraft that attacked Pearl Harbor. |

Joint-Ops first opened its doors in April 2002 and continues to accept the challenges of teaching gamers the parameters of difficult game play in various games. To date, Joint-Ops has conducted instruction in Microsoft's legendary Combat Flight Simulator, Electronic Arts Battlefield 1942, and UbiSoft's IL2 Series (Forgotten Battles, Pacific Fighters, and 1946). By V268FE_Schwack For almost the last two years I have lived in Surprise, Arizona (USA), just over seven miles from Luke Air Force Base. Luke AFB is where all F-16 pilots are trained, as well as mechanics, support units, and intelligence personnel that do work related to the F-16. Almost every day, I can watch pairs of fighter jets flying in formation. In fact, when I bought my home, I had to sign a document stating that I understood my home was located in a fly over zone. |

I was a member of 5 combat pilots called out to stand in and wait for what was believed to be an attack on an emplacement about 40 miles northeast of our base. We had one observer with us, so that made 6 of us in our group. We were ordered to our planes, an unusual mix of four P-51s and two FW-190s. I was seated in a P-51. We waited on the apron for about 35 minutes when someone yelled, “SCRAMBLE!” Off we went and a short time later I hooked up with my Flight Leader. We had no idea what direction the enemy would come from or how they would return home, so we broke up into 3 groups, trying to cover as much area as possible. It wasn’t too long before the Flight Leader spotted an unidentified aircraft when he called me. I looked around and had to tell him that it was our observer, so we continued our patrol. |
